These and other questions have prompted 7i™ to develop a 10 day Training Facilitator programme (that runs non consecutively), to train trainers and facilitators in everything that is involved in being a trainer/facilitator – from defining training in a strategic context, to how to conduct a training needs assessment at an organisational, occupational and individual level, doing a performance gap analysis, mapping training and non training interventions, linking IDPs, career pathing and succession planning to business strategy, developing training plans, producing a training calendar and knowing how to compile a training budget; training content design, the cycle of training implementation including reporting and certification, training delivery standards and measures, the different levels of training evaluation, assessment tools, summative and formative assessments, and monitoring people development through an information system with key data fields. We have designed the programme complete with practical exercises and assignments, ongoing assessments and specific learning outcomes aligned to the national NQF unit standards for facilitators. We have also designed a 'Training and Development Policy and Procedures Manual' to go hand in hand with the training manual. This programme would benefit all trainers and facilitators in all industries and would especially assist the SETAs. There is no one programme or manual that includes the whole ambit of training in its entirety with practical application as well as policy and procedural guidelines. 7i™ has managed to do this and would like to introduce the programme (soon to be published as a book with manuals) to all organisations who are intent on having this need met.
